A self-taught musician, he grew up jamming with cousins in Chicago before earning a degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois. Sagar moved to Chennai to help produce an album, which led him to collaborate with renowned musician Sandeep Chowta. He later transitioned to Mumbai, working with artists like Pritam and forming the band Zambezi Funk. Sagar's notable works include the critically acclaimed film Mixed-Doubles and the background score for The Japanese Wife by Aparna Sen.
